Skill Shot Coffee Bar impresses with winning design

When Skill Shot Coffee & Pinball Bar opened in Eau Claire, the unique establishment paired hand-pulled espresso drinks, Kombucha on tap, beer and wine, and fresh, grab-and-go meals with … pinball! The café draws customers with its collection of the classic arcade machines — and a strikingly appropriate ambiance created by Shelter.

In November, our Skill Shot work earned high scores from the Minnesota chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The organization honored Shelter with two 2019 Design Excellence awards for the project: first place for commercial projects comprising less than 10,000 square feet; and second place in the custom-designed object/detail category.

As soon as you enter the combination coffee shop/pinball parlour, there’s no missing the design wizardry our team employed there. Silver spherical light fixtures hang overhead. Routed woodwork recalls the twists and turns you navigate during game play. And wayfinding flourishes mimic the ubiquitous flashing arrows that guide you through your quests for high scores and bonus points.
