Greg Elsner, AIA — Shelter’s Director of Design — has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 AIA Minnesota Young Architects Award.
The Young Architects Award is given to professionals in the early stages of their architecture career who’ve shown exceptional leadership and made impactful contributions to the profession. The jury noted that Greg’s hands-on approach to design and building was an impressive embodiment of the cross-pollination between his expertise in carpentry and architecture.
Greg’s submission focused on the overlap of his construction expertise with design acumen which help him deliver innovative, detailed work where craft intersects a mastery of material. Attention was also given to his commitment to sustainability and holistic understanding of scale and the human experience.
In one of the nomination letters, Kerry Hage, President of Hage Homes, wrote, “Greg’s curiosity, thoughtfulness, and design philosophy are rooted in a sense of reverence for architectural scale, logical composition, material feasibility, and engineering integrity.”
We are lucky to have Greg as a designer and leader on our team! He will be honored at an AIA Minnesota Awards Celebration on August 15, 2024. Read the full award announcement from AIA Minnesota here.
