The University of Minnesota prides itself on the ability of Greek Life on campus to make a large University feel like home by fostering a sense of belonging for students. Partnering with the University to carry out this commitment, the Shelter team led a sorority kitchen renovation to update the cooking and dining spaces in the shared home to improve the overall functionality of the space.

Partnering with the University to carry out this commitment, the Shelter team led a sorority kitchen renovation to update the cooking and dining spaces in the shared home to improve the overall functionality of the space.
This sorority kitchen renovation was focused on creating a relaxing and homelike kitchen. The updated design of the space now features custom chairs for additional seating space. The redesigned kitchen includes an expanded serving area as well, allowing for efficient meal preparation and service during social events and everyday meals. Recognizing the importance of catering to a wide spectrum of dietary needs, the new space also has separate counters for food sensitivity preparation. This thoughtful addition enables the sorority to accommodate members with specific dietary requirements, fostering inclusivity and accommodation of all members. The new kitchen not only meets the functional needs of the sorority’s members, but it also serves as a welcoming and inviting environment where community can be created and nurtured around a shared cooking and dining space.
