This ethereal gathering place provides an escape from daily worries for the newly revitalized community. The bandshell hosts weekly summer orchestral concerts, and is echoed by a picnic shelter and waterfall on the opposite shore. The bandshell recalls a bird’s wing taking flight from the water. It remains fixed by its tendons to a central anchor. The other wing exists only as a watery reflection. The structure has become a memorial to the former mayor of Spring Lake Park who was killed when his plane crashed in 2005.
